Over my span of teaching first grade, I have created and evolved my own spelling curriculum! My team members and I have used this spelling curriculum for the past seven years and have found it to be very beneficial. SO I decided to share it with everyone by adding it to my Teachers Pay Teachers store! :)
My spelling unit contains 34 weeks’ worth
of spelling worksheets, activities, and teaching materials. Each week's
spelling list contains ten words. The words are grouped together with eight
words that share a common phonics pattern and two sight words. The way the
words are grouped together makes it a great way to align your spelling with
your phonics and reading instruction lessons. Each week's spelling lesson
contains multiple worksheet practice pages. The practice pages cover
vocabulary, parts of speech, ABC order, sentence writing, and handwriting.
There are also additional fun spelling practice pages such as word searches,
crossword puzzles, word scrambles, word shapes, and a spelling battleship game.
The spelling unit also contains teaching materials such as word flashcards,
spelling battleship Smartboard game, checklists, and a homework page for
parents/students. The file contains over 310 pages. All pages are editable
Microsoft Word files. This allows you to change the order of the spelling words
to fit your phonics instruction if you wish.
