Easy & Affordable Valentine’s Day Gift for Students: Play-Doh Gift Tags!

Valentine’s Day is such a fun time in the classroom!  BUT if you’re a teacher, you know the struggle of finding a cute, affordable, and easy-to-assemble Valentine’s Day gift for your students.

That’s why I created these Valentine’s Day Play-Doh Gift Tags—a simple, budget-friendly way to give your students a small but meaningful gift that won’t break the bank!

While candy is a popular choice for Valentine's Day, sometimes it's nice to just give a sugar free treat!

Play-Doh is a fun and interactive alternative that students will love!  Plus, it encourages creativity and fine motor skills—win-win!

How to Assemble Your Play-Doh Valentine’s Gift

These Play-Doh gift tags couldn’t be easier to put together! Here’s what you need:

✔ Printed gift tags (on cardstock for extra durability)

✔ Mini 1 oz. Play-Doh tubs (found at most stores or on Amazon)

✔ Scissors

✔ Tape (optional for securing the Play-Doh tub)

Steps:

1️⃣ Print the gift tags on cardstock.

2️⃣ Cut out the circle in the center.

3️⃣ Insert a mini Play-Doh tub through the hole.

4️⃣ Secure with tape if needed.

This set includes pink and red heart-themed gift tags, measuring approximately 4 inches x 5 inches. 

Simply print as many as you need, and you’re ready to go!

Valentine's Day Student Gifts

This year I don't have time to make homemade Play-doh hearts for my students like I did last year - so this year I have found some Printables from Pinterest to use to make super cute Valentine's Day gifts for my students! 

 

Each student will get their own container of Play-doh along with a Lollipop Lilly!

Valentine's Day Student Gifts

This year my students walked in on Valentine's Day and had these treats on their desk! They had a bag of jelly beans and homemade Play-doh in the shape of a heart. The kids loved their treats and it didn't break the bank. LOL

Here is the recipe I used for the homemade Play-doh:

*I doubled the recipe*

1 cup Salt

2 cups Flour

2 Tablespoons Cream of Tartar

2 Tablespoons Oil

2 cups Water

Red Food Coloring

2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon (for the smell)

I also sprinkled glitter into the mixture for a fun, sparkly twist!

Directions: Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring all the time. When the dough has a good, tough consistency, take it off the heat and allow to cool. When cool, break the dough into individual balls. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter and take the dough and form it into the cookie cutter.

I had my students make this craft to give to their parents for Valentine's Day. They cut and glued all the pieces together then stamped their thumbprint on each flower pedal.
